Everyday care

All plating wears with time. These habits slow that down a lot:

  • Put it on last. Let perfume, hairspray, moisturiser and fake tan dry before you put your jewellery on.
  • Take it off for water. Remove it before showering, swimming (especially in chlorinated or salt water), washing up, or using a hot tub.
  • Take it off for exercise and sleep. Sweat speeds up tarnishing, and fine chains can catch.
  • Avoid chemicals. Household cleaners, bleach and hand sanitiser can dull the finish quickly.

Cleaning

Wipe your piece gently with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth after wearing it. If it needs more, use a drop of mild soap in lukewarm water, rinse briefly, and dry it completely straight away.

Never use silver dip, toothpaste, polishing compounds or ultrasonic cleaners on plated jewellery. They remove the plating.

Storing

Keep each piece in its pouch, or in a lined box, away from other jewellery so it doesn't get scratched. Fasten chains before storing them to avoid tangles. A dry place away from bathrooms is best, because damp air makes metals tarnish faster.

Photo lockets

Keep the locket closed when you are not looking at the photos, and keep it away from water. Water that gets inside can damage the printed photos. Open the hinge gently with a fingernail rather than forcing it. If a photo is damaged, contact us.

Bracelet sizing

Wrap a soft tape measure, or a strip of paper, snugly around the wrist just above the wrist bone. Mark where it meets, measure it against a ruler, and add about 1.5 cm (½ inch) for a comfortable fit. Choose the nearest bracelet length. The 4.5" and 5.5" sizes are for children.
